Field Day- May 10, 2007

Today was Olivia's very first Field Day experience! It was a very long, warm day beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending around 2:00 p.m. with a two hour break for lunch. Lunch was only that long for students who decided NOT to run the mile. I had almost talked Olivia into running the mile, but last minute she decided she was ready for lunch. She's promised me that next year we can practice and try the mile then. We'll see if that really happens. Emily was the complete opposite. She was all for the mile. I had to talk her out of it, using reasons like she was only wearing sandals and that she's not even in kindergarten.

Here's Olivia and her very best friend Jenna. They are inseperable and known by everyone at school to be attahed to the hip at school.

Olivia was soooo excited to show off her baby sister to her classmates and teachers.

One event was a water ballon toss. Someone shot a ballon at a group of kids holding a parachute waiting to catch it. Surprize! Olivia didn't get very wet, but had lots of fun chasing the ballons.

Grandma Gagon was able to come to a few of the morning events before she had to go to work for the afternoon. Emily, Audrey and Marcella all had fun trying to get the best 'seat' to watch Olivia.

Olivia did really well at the obsticle course relay. Some things they had to do were jump rope, leap hurdles and dive through a hula hoop.

Olivia's favorite event was probably the three-legged race. She and Jenna partnered up and did a fantastic job. They were able to race up and down the field with hardly a bobble! They just must be used to walking side by side each day.

West Woods elementary was very good about allowing younger siblings participate as well. Emily and Audrey had tons of fun running the 50 and 100 meter dash with their big sister. It was really funny to watch Emily out run Olivia and Audrey out run a few of Olivia's classmates. I like to think they inherited their running ablilities from their mother.

The last event of the day was the parachute. They all had fun 'popping corn' and making 'tents'. They even got the chance to pop a few 6th graders and a very brave mom and dad.

It was a long day of fun. And the ribbon and popsicle was just the icing on the cake!

That looks like so much fun! I can't believe how big Marcella is. Crazy to think that she is over a year old now.
